Mumbai mayhem

I don’t even know if I should feel angry or sad or numb. I feel nothing. These attacks…and the periodicity with which they occur has numbed us. We don’t panic like we used to. It doesn’t scare us anymore. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad one.

The drill is automatic now. You see it on the news, your hand automatically reaches for the phone. You message or call people who may be affected. You get a reply that they are alright. You thank god. The next day, you go to work as usual. Everyone changes their profile descriptor on Facebook to do with the tragedy. It may range from XYZ is angry..and sad, to XYZ is wondering will this stop!! Everyone’s name on messengers changes to reflect the same. You make some business decisions like postponing activity in that city. And you go home.

End of story.

Only to be repeated again.

As I said, I don’t know if I am angry or sad….probably just numb.

you're right. one does tend to get numb-eventually. but shock and sadness is too omnipresent right now. even in Canada this is what is on the news all day-everyone's very concerned. its scary-you never know if you're going to see a loved one again when they go to work, or out for drinks. it has become one scary place to be...
we found out that 3 of our IIHM colleagues have been killed-one news item even described how one of them , a chef (all 3 were chefs) was shot after they were all asked to huddle in a corner. 3 innocent boys, killed in the name of-hatred...?

it has caused a depressive mood out here-one that seems to have permeated one's whole being. But then to move on one would have to numb that aspect of our feelings i guess-to move on... to live another day.

Never has it been truer-live each day as if it were your last. tell the people you say good bye to you love them(if u do that is :) )

And just hope it doesnt happen to those you love, or whom they love.

Don't be numb, be outraged! Numb is taking such atrocity for granted...
